Salam Semua

IE windows title

Earth Hour 2009 - Sign up for Earth Hour!
Pada : 28 Mac 2009 , Jam 8.30 malam

Kenapa plak nak tutup lampu ??

Cuma tutup lampu lah ??

Jadi apa saya nak buat sekarang ??

iPhone vs Blackberry

With the Wi-Fi-equipped BlackBerry 8820 coming soon to an AT&T store near you, business folks around the country will be faced with the decision of switching to the trendy new iPhone or upgrading to a more iPhonesque version of their trusty CrackBerry. To determine whether the grass really is greener on the iPhone side of the fence, we have chronicled the experience of a venture capitalist (who wishes to remain anonymous) who has been using an iPhone and a BlackBerry 8800 side-by-side for the past few weeks. His conclusion: despite the overall attractiveness of the iPhone, it lacks too many vital features to replace the BlackBerry as the corporate weapon of choice.

For starters, a BlackBerry set up with Microsoft Exchange Server sports intelligent push email while the iPhone does not. When an email is sent to an account on a BlackBerry, the message is downloaded immediately and an LED on the phone notifies the user that he or she has a new message. The iPhone, on the other hand, recognizes new messages at most every 15 minutes and must be checked actively to see if anything has arrived. This deficiency makes handling email on the iPhone slower and less efficient; it also translates into wasted battery power as users need to perform the extra step of opening the iPhone’s email program every time they want to check for new mail.

Perhaps even more significantly, the iPhone fails to synchronize as well as the BlackBerry. When a BlackBerry user changes a calendar event or some contact information on his or her desktop computer in Exchange, the changes automatically appear on the BlackBerry. This makes keeping track of basic business information a snap because one never has to worry about acting on outdated data or manually updating one’s handheld. In contrast, the iPhone does not synchronize calendar and contact information wirelessly, which makes it less dependable for information ultimately stored on a server.

In addition to these major drawbacks of the iPhone, our venture capitalist cites the following as reasons to prefer the BlackBerry:

The BlackBerry 8800 possesses GPS, which makes Google Maps much more useful, especially for turn-by-turn directions
The iPhone lacks basic cut and paste capabilities
Despite Apple’s reputation for superior user interface design, the BlackBerry possesses keyboard shortcuts that make navigation around and between applications a breeze
The BlackBerry’s phone quality is better than the iPhone’s
The Safari browser is certainly more stunning than the BlackBerry’s primitive browser, but the iPhone seems to load even text-only pages more slowly than the BlackBerry over the EDGE network
The BlackBerry possesses a general contacts application that makes contacting people by any given method more convenient
The battery runs out faster on the iPhone simply because it is used for more tasks. This makes it less reliable for when one must take the device somewhere overnight without the opportunity to recharge.
Despite all of these criticisms of the iPhone, our venture capitalist admits that he would switch over to the iPhone if only it supported push email, calendar and contacts synchronization, and GPS. For him, the prospect of ridding his pockets of a separate device for music (an iPod nano), as well as enjoying all of the iPhone’s slick features (such as full-featured web browsing, stocks and weather apps, and its YouTube program), makes the iPhone very tempting. However, until Apple resolves these shortcomings (and perhaps Google makes its applications, especially Gmail, work as seamlessly with the iPhone as Microsoft makes Exchange work with the BlackBerry), others are going to have to pry his BlackBerry from his cold, dead hands (his words, mind you, not ours.

OK, my quick thoughts after four hours. The iPhone is the greatest phone ever built–that’s hands down the truth. However, it’s best to look at it as a web device with a phone thrown in. My bullet point review so far:

1)Surfing the web: iPhone hands down winner. Most amazing phone ever.
2)Music and video: iPhone hands down winner. Most amazing phone ever.
3)Maps/weather/stocks: iPhone hands down winner. Most amazing phone ever.
4)Email: iPhone not as good as Blackberry in terms of input (i.e. keyboard), but far better in terms of output (ie the iPhone screen is a DREAM).
5)Camera: horrible. Really Apple… what the deal!?!?!
6)Design/form factor: iPhone is the most amazing phone ever.
7)Durability: The iPhone is FRACKED if you drop it. My Blackberry can–and has–been dropped 20x with no problem.
8)Keyboard: Shockingly good. Steve Jobs told me at the D conference that if I trust the keyboard and give it a week it will be as good as a Blackberry. I didn’t believe him at all. Now I’m 75% sure he is right. I need three more days.

Earth Hour 2009 - Sign up for Earth Hour!

Web Statistics and Trends
Statistics are important information. From the statistics below, you can see that Internet Explorer and Firefox are the most common browsers.

Browser War!!!

Just last week we compared four PC browsers and concluded that IE8 was the slowest, Safari the fastest and Firefox the most expandable - but we thought that Chrome was nipping at everyone else's heels.
A week is a long time on the Internet, though, and we now have two even newer browsers. Internet Explorer 8 has moved from release candidate to final release, and Chrome 2 is now available as a beta rather than a "might work, might not" developer release. Both browsers promise to be faster than before, but are they fast enough to unseat Safari - or useful enough to fight Firefox? There is, of course, only one way to find out.

INTERFACE

Winner: Chrome
Full screen browsing makes Chrome nicer and more useful on netbooks - and leaves Safari as the only browser without a full screen mode - but like Safari it isn't skinnable: if you don't like the look, tough luck. We're still not sold on Safari's iTunes-style approach to favourite sites, bookmarks and browsing history, and we still don't like IE's interface. This is entirely personal preference, but we're going to give Chrome the gold star here - although while we love the clean design, we appreciate that many of you don't.

FEATURES

Winner: Firefox
Firefox's ecosystem of add-ons gives it first place here: no other browser is as easily or as amazingly extensible. IE has a few extensions together with web slices and accelerators, but it isn't a patch on Firefox - although it's still much more expandable than Chrome or Safari.

Safari and Chrome are all about form following function, but the latest beta of Chrome boasts some useful improvements that make it a bit less bare bones than before. Page zoom is silky smooth and now increases or decreases everything, not just text, and you now get form auto-filling as well as the previous version's form field resizing. Chrome still doesn't do RSS, although that's on the to-do list, and extensions are still some way off.

FIGHTING EVIL

Winner: Everyone but Safari
All of the browsers offer pop-up blocking but not ad blocking: for that you'll need to install add-ons or ad-blocking proxies. They also offer variations on the Porn Mode theme so your movements aren't stored on your PC (although, of course, they don't do anything to stop The Man from spying on you), and they promise to protect you from phishing and other net nasties.

The private browsing is implemented in nifty but different ways in Firefox, IE8 and Chrome: when you switch to private browsing in Firefox, it offers to save your currently open tabs so you can return to them when you've finished browsing in secret. With Chrome and IE8 you can run one window (and associated tabs) in normal mode and another window with privacy enabled, but Safari's privacy is global.

The other evil to consider is crashing. IE8 and Chrome both use separate processes for each open tab, which means you can kill misbehaving sites or applications from Task Manager, and Chrome also gives you a tab manager (Shift + Esc) so you can see what process is handling which page or application. The other browsers are all single-process jobs, so if something crashes it takes the browser with it. Firefox's extensions more than compensate for that, though, so we're calling this one a tie between everything but Safari.

Penambahan Ciri Preview Pane

Senarai Pantas (Jump List)

Ruang Penyimpanan maya (Virtual hard disks)

Earth Hour 2009

Cuddling up with your loved ones and admiring the stars in the night sky or organising a treasure hunt in the dark? At 8:30pm on Saturday 28 March, people from all corners of the world will turn off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour - and cast their vote for action on climate change. Anybody can participate and join together with millions of people across the globe celebrating Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is about taking simple steps everyday that collectively reduce carbon emissions – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.

Here are 10 different ways to spend Earth Hour and reduce your carbon footprint:

1. Attend a local Earth Hour event or organise your own by throwing an Earth Hour street party with your neighbours
2. Gather family & friends for a night picnic in your local park and look at the stars
3. Enjoy a family dinner by candlelight
4. Organise a treasure hunt in the dark
5. Take the dog for a night walk
6. Have a candle-lit bath
7. Sit in the dark and share stories
8. Organise a family night playing board games
9. Share a romantic night in with your loved one
10. Upload your ‘on the night’ photos and videos to flickr and YouTube respectively, and then add them to the Earth Hour flickr group and the global YouTube Group.

Earth Hour Executive Director, Andy Ridley, is encouraging people to participate in whatever way they choose and to think beyond the hour.

“There are no hard and fast rules surrounding participation in Earth Hour. We only ask that you flick that switch and have fun doing whatever you choose to do during that time.

Make Earth Hour work for you. Families with young children should feel free to turn their lights off earlier than 8:30pm and for those having too much fun in the dark during the hour, don’t feel you have to limit yourself to one hour and switch back on at 9:30pm.”

To find out more about Earth Hour, visit the official website www.earthhour.org, sign up and join millions of people in more than 1,400 cities and towns in 80 countries throughout the world by turning off your lights for one hour at 8:30pm on Saturday 28 March.

Digi Broadband Goes Live

DiGi Broadband went live yesterday with a launch gambit that can easily be described as the most interesting one we've seen this year. Riding on the tagline "Broadband Done Right", the launch took place at the massive DiGi showcase that's located in the High Street section of 1 Utama. Putting their recently obtained 3G license to full use, DiGi's broadband service will be deployed wirelessly via their 14.4Mbps HSDPA network infrastructure. Already available in certain areas around the Klang Valley (Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Sunway and Bangsar), DiGi plans to extend it's coverage to other key areas in the Klang Valley within a couple of weeks and to over 1,000 other areas by the end of the year.
One noticeable thing about yesterday's launch was also the absence of broadband centric terms such as "best effort". DiGi CEO Johan Dennelind didn't mince his words when he expressed his disdain towards the unfulfilled claims often made by other providers, and ensured all that were present that DiGi would not follow in their footsteps.

In the following press conference, Johan pointed out that even though the network is running on a 14.4Mbps HSDPA network infrastructure, DiGi are advertising their fastest speed package as 7.2Mbps in order to avoid over expectation from customers. He went a step further and very publicly admited that the fastest probable speed one could obtain from DiGi boradband would be a 2Mbps downstream and a 1Mbps upstream.

“Our focus will be to deliver quality experience as we roll-out. With broadband penetration of just 21.2% as of end 2008, there is a lot of room to grow. We are confident of being a strong contributor towards increasing broadband penetration in the country. Our aim is to get a third of the broadband market share within the next 5 years” said Dennelind.Three packages are available from DiGi and none of them require you to sign up for a contract. You will however need to purchase a modem from DiGi to get connected. Also, if you reach your data cap you will still be able to connect to the network, but DiGi may throttle your speed if you are connecting in a high usage area.

For more information on DiGi broadband, visit their official website at http://www.digi.com.my/broadband

Celcom Broadband

Celcom Broadband was launched early this month. It promises true mobility and lightning speed internet access to its users whether they are surfing from home or outdoors.
There are 3 plans available. You can choose to subscribe at RM8 for 24 hours unlimited, RM68 for a monthly unlimited access, or pay-per-use at 10 cents per 10kb. The chart below shows a comparison of Celcom’s rate compared to its rival. How to subscribe?

Existing Celcom subscribers:

Daily Unlimited - Register via SMS or dial *118#
Monthly Unlimited - Register at any Celcom Service Centre or selected dealer
Non-Celcom subscribers:

Register at the nearest Celcom Service Centre.
What you need?

Laptop or notebook users require a:

USB modem
Datacard, or
A GPRS and/or 3G enabled mobile phone
What is the catch?

#1: The advertised 384kbps speed can only be “obtained” if your phone supports 3G and you are in an area that is covered by the Celcom broadband service.

#2: If your phone does not support 3G or you are not in the service area, you are running on their GPRS service which provides a bandwidth of 60-70kbps only. That is just slightly faster than a dialup connection.

Note: Bandwidth figures and other information were obtained from Celcom’s call center.

UPDATED:
1) You will need to have a 3G sim card in order to get the 384kbps bandwidth. Or else, it will only be 112kbps max.

2) The 3GX that offers you up to 3.6mbps is open for invitations only. You will receive an SMS if you are the lucky one. Even then, you will need to be within the coverage area.

3) The USB modem (Huawei E220) is sold at RM900+ to RM1,200+. You will need to look around to get a good deal on this. My friend bought it for RM1,100 last week.

6 Way to Increse Available Hard Disk Drive

The biggest mistake anyone can do while configuring and installing a computer is to create the C drive with a small partition. By saying “small partition”, I mean anything less than 20GB. The price of hard disks (GB/price) has dropped a lot in recent years. Some computer packages come with a default 160GB hard disk. That is why I don’t understand why people end up leaving so little space for their C drive.

When your C drive is almost full, it is natural to think of ways on how to increase hard disk space for your C drive. If you do an online search, you’ll get a few tips like clearing up temp files, uninstalling unused programs, removing unused files, backup files into removable storage and delete them from the hard disk etc.

Those are useful tips but what if there isn’t much space you can recover by following the recommended methods? Here, I shall share with you some methods I have used to recover “lost” space on the C drive.

1. Disable Hibernation on your Windows
In my opinion, Windows XP was developed with a very useful feature called Hibernation. What it does is that it allows you to shutdown the computer without closing your applications, thus saving your work. The next time you boot up your computer, all your previous work will be loaded up automatically. On the downside though, Hibernation doesn’t come cheap — it requires at least 512MB depending on your system. It took up more than 1GB on my Acer notebook.

How to find out if Hibernation is enabled on your computer? Just click on the Start button and select Turn off computer. Hold down the Shift button and see if the Standby icon changes to Hibernate. If it does, Hibernation mode is enabled.
If Hibernation is on, you can disable it by going into the Control Panel and clicking on the Power Options icon. Click on the Hibernate tab. Uncheck the Enable hibernation checkbox and click OK.

2. Disable System Restore / Resize Disk Space Usage Quota
System restore is another feature of Windows that helps you restore your computer in case your system is down due to file corrupted or system misconfiguration. Just like the Hibernation feature, system restore does take up space on all your drives. In fact, it can be much worse because it takes up 12% of your disk space by default. To save up space in C drive, you can either disable system restore or reduce the disk space usage allocated for it.
To do so, open up Control Panel and click on System. Then, click on the System Restore tab. If you want to disable system restore, just uncheck the Turn off System Restore on all drives. I do not recommend this though. It is best to reduce the size instead. Click on the C drive in the list and then click on the Settings button. You can reduce the space allocated for system restore by sliding the slider to the left and click OK.

3. Delete old temp files in Local Settings\Temp.
This step is probably one of the most effective steps in helping you recover the most hard disk space. I was able to free up 3GB just by deleting the files contained in this folder.
The location of this directory may vary on different operating systems. Assuming you are using Windows XP, go to the folder C:\Documents and Settings. Double click on the folder where its name is your Username account. Double click on the Local Settings folder. Once in that folder, double click on the Temp folder. Delete all files in the temp folder.

In my case, the location of this temp folder is at C:\Documents and Settings\Kelwin\Local Settings\Temp. If you cannot find the Local Settings folder, that is because the folder is hidden. Just copy the address above, change “Kelwin” to your Username and paste it into the address bar.

4. Lower temp files in IE
Open Internet Explorer. On the menu bar, click Tools and then select Internet Options. On the General tab, click the Settings button under the Browsing History section.
Adjust the Disk space to use amount to something lower. The recommended values are between 50 to 250MB.

5. Disk Cleanup
Open up My Computer. Right click on the drive that you want to free up space, and select Properties. Click on the Disk cleanup button.
After a couple of minutes, you will be shown a list of options where you can take in order to free up hard disk space. The options range from deleting files to compressing old files.

From the screenshot above, you can see that I am able to free up 11GB if I were to select all the listed files to delete/compress. Up to 7GB can be freed if I were to compress old files. That is a lot of space indeed!

6. Moving paging file from C to other drives.
Paging file is an area on your hard disk where Windows uses it as if it were a RAM. Usually, this paging file is located in your C drive and can take up to 1 or more GB. It is ideal to place this file in the C drive instead of other drives because it is faster to access it from C. Having said that, this is not a recommended step but it works.
Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Select the Advanced tab and click on the Settings button under the Performance area. Select the Advanced tab and click on the Change button.

The list will display all the drives on your computer and any paging file associated to it. Copy whatever setting on the C drive to the next drive. Click the Set button. Once that is done, select the C drive and click on the No paging file radio button. Click the Set button. Apply the changes by clicking the OK button on all opened windows.
********************
Bear in mind that even though you are able to install new software into the other partition(s), there are some files that are required to be installed into the C drive. A Windows installation would have taken up a few GB of space. Any common shared files will also be installed into the C drive. Any files kept in the My Documents, My Pictures, My Music and even on the desktop(!) will be stored in the same partition.

As a general guide, it is advisable to allocate at least 40 to 60% of your hard disk space for your C drive. You can use the remainder to install new programs, store files or even backup important documents in case you need to reformat your windows drive.

I hope this post has helped you recover some hard disk space. If you find it useful, kindly spread it along. Thank you.

Automated Removal Instructions for Antivirus 2009 using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.

When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Then click Finish.

MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

On the Scanner tab:
Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
Then click on the Scan button.
If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.

The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.

When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".

Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes.

1. Finding potential processes running- Press CTRL, ALT and DELETE key together. You will open the Windows Task Manager.- Click the Processes tab, and comb through the list and see whether there is a program called wscript.exe is running. If you find it, click on it and click End Process.- After that you can close the Task Manager window.

2. Finding the virus (for those who were not detected by the antivirus - for Microsoft Windows)- Go to My Computer- Click Tools at the top bar --> Folder Options- When you come to the Folder Options window, click on the View tab- Look for Hidden files and folders- Tick Show hidden files and folders- Tick Show system files- Press OK- Once the window is closed, click on your C drive once.- Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32. Once you are in there, look for whether there is a filename called HBKiller.js- If you can't find it in C (like I did), look in C:\Windows- If you still can't find it, don't worry, press F3 at the top row of your keyboard (in case you don't know) and the search bar will be on your left. Click on All files and folders, and type in the file name HBKiller.jsIf you don't find any file in there, congratulations, you are one step out of it.You can jump to step (4)

3. You found the virus- Click on the file you found and press SHIFT key and DELETE key- It will ask you "Are you sure you want to delete (the file name)". Click Yes- If you find more than one location that has HBKiller.js, then you need to repeat the steps in (3)

4. Editing the Windows Register (do it with full of caution!)- Click Start --> Run- Type regedit and press ENTER- You will come to the Registry Editor window- On your left there will be the registry directories. Look for:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> Run- If there is a HBKiller.js in there, delete the entry.- Then you need to look for:HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Main- If you see the Window Title has "HBKiller In The House!!!" you should delete that entry.- You can now close the Registry Editor window.

5. Stop all auto runs in future (recommended move)- Click on Start --> Run- Type gpedit.msc and press ENTER- You will come to the Group Policy window- Go to User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System- Look for Turn off Autoplay and double click it. You will come to Turn Off Autoplay Properties window.- Click Enable and select All drives from the drop-down combo box.(It is suggested to turn it off to avoid further potential virus infections in future)- You can now close the Group Policy window.

6. Stopping auto run virus programs (if have)- Click on Start --> Run - Type msconfig and press ENTER. You will come to the System Configuration Utility window- Click on the Startup tab, and look for any programs that runs under HBKiller.js- If you find then, uncheck the checkbox on the left of the file- Click Apply- Click Close- When you close the window it will ask you whether to restart or not. Click on Exit without Restart.

7. Start > Run > RegeditThen go toHKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > MountPoints2 >Then you will see a list of random numbers and jargon looking a little like "{07852ef4-9baf-11db-a10c-806d6172696f}" - This refers to your hard drives. The more you have the more random things you will have in this list. A partition counts as a seperate drive. Now go in these "drives" toShell > AutoRun > commandYou will see a file called "default" with some code next to it saying ”C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\RunDLL32.EXE Shell32.DLL,ShellExec_RunDLL wscript.exe .HBKiller.js”. or similar. Open the file and delete all the "wscript.exe .HBKiller.js” part. I dunno if you need the rest but this will kill it anyway.Do this for every drive you have within the "Mountpoints2" subtree. Also go into:Shell > AutoPlay > commandShell > Explore > commandShell > Open > commandShell > Scan for Biros > commandShell > Scan with Manok > commandShell > Scan with Rempit > commandAnd open the default file and delete “wscript.exe HBKiller.js”

8. Restarting your PC- Before restart, make sure that you empty your recycle bin.

Restart your PC- You will see a windows prompt that you have changed your system configurations. Check on the checkbox not to remind you anymore and press ok.
